Memorial Day Weekend 2014

We started out the weekend by introducing Emeline to the University of Texas where Mommy and Daddy met and fell in love.  We showed her all of our special spots on campus and really enjoyed reminiscing with her in tow this time.

She fattened up a squirrel or two while on campus.

Later that afternoon, we met up with our long time friends Tye and Dani and their son Weston and our other dear friend Braden and hit the lake for some fun times toobing and boating around.  Emeline loved every second on the water, but she especially loved her bonding time with Daddy on the toob!

We had an unbelievably fun weekend with friends and family, but the highlight of this weekend (and something Kris has wanted to do for some time) was a trip to pay our respect to Chris Kyle at his burial site in Austin at Texas State Cemetery. Through torrential rain downpours, Eme was so good and engaged as we taught her about the words "hero", "sacrifice" and "character". If you have not read American Sniper by Chris Kyle, Kris highly encourages you to do so. Thank you to Mr. Kyle and the other unnamed friends and family who have defended this country against enemies so that we may continue to live free in the greatest country.
