Emeline's Quirks, Sillies and Milestones - 17 Months

...love to tickle EVERYONE...
...says tee-tee when one of us is using the restroom - a sign we are getting closer to potty training!...
...started calling Grammy 'Gigi'...
...you are very ticklish especially around your collar bone and those cute little thighs of yours...
...you love to scare Daddy.  One of your favorite games with him and him you is to scare one another.  You usually like to scare him while he is in his closet changing clothes.  You hop from around the corner and giggle!  It's so cute...
...you love doing forward rolls (with help of course!). You do understand the concept of tucking your head and rolling and can start to do it by yourself, but you can't quite get all the way over...
...you have finally shown interest in puzzles and can successfully do the knob puzzles...
...you have started to put two words together and can say 'all done', 'all gone', 'bye Daddy' (when he leaves for work) and your favorite 'uh-oh oh-no'...
...you have started to show interest in the mirror for the first time ever and laugh every time you see your cute self...
...you are a dancing queen.  We start and end almost every day with a little dance party in the living room...
...right now you are saying about 20 words.  I can't keep up with all of them any more, so I'll just keep track of the funny words and phrases...
...we have been going to bounce house for some time now and you can officially jump or bounce around in them.  We have made such great memories at these places...
...you still love to brush your own teeth.  It is getting to be quite the struggle to do it for you,  but every day is different.
...I've been reading a book of colors with you and each page is a different color.  One day I was quizzing you on the objects and you could point to so many of the objects already.  I was shocked!  You pointed to the banana, ball, pumpkin, cat, shoes, balloon, fish, etc...
...anytime you see something cute or even if you do something cute, you say 'awe' put your hands next to your face and tilt your head.  And it makes Mommy and Daddy saw 'awe' to how sweet and cute you are even more...
...you know where your head, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, belly, belly button, fingers, hands, toes and feet are.  Oh and your boobies too.  Silly girl...
...Still loving animal noises and you can mimic a monkey, goat, sheep, chicken, cow, lion, cat, dog, duck, dinosaur and bear...
...you can officially drink out of Mommy and Daddy's glasses.  Not sure when this one happened,  but you are very into grabbing our glasses and taking a sip for yourself...
...and my personal favorite for the month - your 'cheese' face!  When we take a picture now, I say 'say cheese' you say 'cheese!', scrunch up your nose, squint your eyes and give the biggest most precious grin from ear-to-ear I have ever seen.  Oh how I will never tire of your 'cheese' face...

BIG News!

In honor of National Adoption Month and on Emeline’s 17 month 'birthday', we choose to share our happy news with family and friends.  We began the adoption process for baby #2 and as of October, we are officially a Gladney Center for Adoption Approved and Waiting family!  This means we've completed mountains of paperwork, our home study, made our profile book and online profiles and now we sit back and wait to be chosen by the birth family that was always meant to find us!  We are thrilled beyond words to grow our family and make this little cutie not just a big sister in waiting, but an official big sister one day.

Happy Halloween!

Emeline is a skunk full of spunk this year.  A play on her spunky personality.
I think she's "too stinking cute" if I may say so myself!

Happy Halloween to all!

Emeline's Quirks, Sillies and Milestones - 16 Months

...Words of the month - 'oh-no', 'oh-dear', 'oh-boy', 'oh-wow' and 'whoa'.  These words make you sound like you have a very cautious personality, but let me tell you - you are a live-life-to-the-fullest kinda gal.  And I love it!  You also say, banana - 'nana' and Poppa.  Sometimes Poppa comes out with a sweet little Italian accent.  Pretty darn cute...
...Loves to fill and empty baskets, bowls etc...
...Follows simple instructions when told to put something away.  In both our music class and toddler sensory class, you have the freedom to grab and put back objects throughout class and you do it every time.  Proud Momma...
...Actually, you follow most instructions.  The words you understand at this point amazes me.  I'll ask you to do something not so simple or to put something back where you found it and you do!
...You like to help Mommy clean and even put your sippy cups on a coaster.  Learning from Mommy and Daddy I see!...
...Still loving animal noises.  We've added meowing like a cat to the list of animal noises you can mimic...
...You love to kick a ball around the house.  We keep it out at all times, but in the evenings you kick it around the kitchen when we are cooking dinner...
...I'm amazed at how well you follow commands and answer me back when I ask you a question with a yes or a no.  You have an opinion already and we let you know that your voice matters too...
...You like to scribble now with pens and crayons at restaurants.  Time to get you a coloring book for home now!...
...You are very independent and like to attempt to wash your own hands, face, brush your own teeth, feed yourself with utensils, etc...
...You can stack blocks and really love to stack anything at all that can be stacked (even shoes!)...
...You pretend to talk on the phone all. the. time.  It's pretty precious too.  We pretend call Daddy all day long...
...You really love your baby that you got this month.  I know one day you will make a very sweet and loving big sister by the way you carry and kiss your baby....
...Speaking of kissing - you kiss your toys, baby, Oskar and George and any stuffed animal on command, but you only kiss Mommy and Daddy when you want to! Stinker...
...Your favorite food right now are bananas.  You kind of have an addiction...
...You are quite the shopper already and get the biggest kick out of handing my credit card to the cashier and taking it back from them to place back into my wallet.  I'm teaching you the important stuff.  Ha...
...As you have become a full blown toddler, more 'ouchies' come with the territory.  You love when we kiss them so much that we even kiss imaginary 'ouchies'...
